A Wedding Full of Heart: Brittany & Zach at Browns Grove, Sarasota
Some weddings make you remember exactly why you do this work. Brittany and Zach’s day at Browns Grove in Sarasota was one of those weddings — and as a wedding planner in Tampa, I can honestly say it is one we will never forget.
The forecast called for storms. The wind hit 27 miles per hour by mid-afternoon. Thunderclouds rolled across the open Florida sky like something out of a movie. And none of it — not one gust, not one rumble — could touch the joy of this family.
The Details That Told Their Story
Before the ceremony even began, Brittany’s details said everything you needed to know about the kind of woman she is. A custom “Mrs. Lesmerises” garter, a delicate Tiffany necklace, a family locket pinned to her bouquet — and the sweetest detail of all, a tiny pair of baby Mary Janes sitting right beside her own heels. Because this wedding wasn’t just about two people. It was about a family becoming official.
One of my favorite moments of the entire getting-ready experience was seeing Brittany’s gown and her daughter’s matching flower girl dress hanging side by side. That image — elegant sweetheart gown next to a tiny lace dress — was enough to make the whole room tear up before we’d even started.
Getting Ready at Browns Grove
One of the reasons Browns Grove is one of our most preferred venues here in the Sarasota area is the bridal suite. With its warm wood-plank ceilings, vintage pendant lights, sage green mid-century chairs, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking open fields, it photographs like an absolute dream — stormy sky included. As Brittany slipped into her gown and took a quiet moment to look out those windows, you could feel the weight and the beauty of everything that was about to happen.
Brittany carried a lush bouquet of white hydrangeas and eucalyptus, and tucked among the stems was a gold locket with a photo inside — a quiet way of keeping someone she loved close on one of the biggest days of her life. These are the details that make a wedding more than a party. They make it a legacy.
A Ceremony Under the Oaks
As a wedding planner in Tampa and the surrounding Sarasota area, I’ve stood under a lot of ceremony arches. But the ancient live oak trees at Browns Grove? They never get old. Spanish moss trailing from sweeping branches, dappled light even on a stormy day, and a rustic wooden arch that feels like it belongs exactly there — it is one of the most naturally breathtaking ceremony settings in all of Florida.
When Brittany and Zach shared their first kiss, the wind picked up just enough to send her pearl-edged veil floating around them. It looked like something from a film. In all my years as a wedding planner in Tampa, I have learned that Florida weather has its own way of participating in the story — and on this day, it was nothing short of cinematic.
The moment Brittany and Zach walked back down that aisle — beaming, laughing, grabbing each other’s hands — the entire family erupted. The embrace from a grandmother that followed is one of the most tender photographs I have ever seen come out of a wedding. This is what we plan for.
Their Whole Heart, In One Picture
Brittany and Zach came into this wedding already a family. Their daughter, dressed in her own tiny lace gown, was as much a part of this ceremony as anyone. Watching Zach hold her under that oak tree while Brittany stood beside them — bouquet in hand, veil catching the breeze — is an image I will carry with me for a long time.
Portraits in the Storm
Even with 27mph winds and a sky full of rolling thunderheads, we were not going to let this couple miss their portraits. And honestly? The dramatic clouds and swaying Spanish moss made for some of the most stunning couple photos I have ever seen come out of Browns Grove.
This is one of the things I love most about working at Browns Grove. Even when the weather tries to take the wheel, the landscape absorbs all of it and gives it back as beauty.
Why Browns Grove Is One of Our Preferred Venues
I get asked all the time — as a wedding planner in Tampa and Sarasota — which venues I truly love. Browns Grove is always near the top of that list. Here is why:
The property has this magical quality of feeling completely removed from the world. Open pastures, ancient oaks, a beautifully designed bridal suite, and an open-air pavilion that means even a thunderstorm becomes part of the ambiance rather than a catastrophe. On Brittany and Zach’s wedding day, those stormy skies made the pavilion feel warm, glowing, and intimate in a way that a perfectly clear day simply cannot manufacture.
As a wedding planner who has coordinated events in 27mph winds and watched the sky open up mid-cocktail hour, I can tell you: Browns Grove is built for Florida weather. The covered pavilion kept guests comfortable, the string lights stayed glowing, and the celebration never stopped.
The Reception: Cake, a Baby, and Pure Joy
Four white cakes. A vintage French provincial dresser. The ceremony arch visible in the background. If you’re looking for inspo on how to style a dessert display, look no further — this is it.
And of course — because this is who they are — the cake cutting involved frosting on a nose, laughter, and a kiss. Perfect.
Planning a Wedding at Browns Grove? Here’s What You Need to Know
If you are searching for a wedding planner in Tampa or Sarasota and dreaming of a venue like Browns Grove, here is my honest advice: lean into the Florida weather, don’t fight it. Have a plan, trust your vendors, and hire a team that has been there before and knows how to pivot with grace and joy when the sky has other ideas.
Brittany and Zach’s wedding is proof that a stormy forecast is not a bad omen — it is just another part of your story. And sometimes the most beautiful stories are the ones where everything doesn’t go perfectly, but everything goes exactly right.
We are so proud to be a preferred planning team for Browns Grove and to have been trusted with this incredible family’s most important day.
